Alcide di Sarra studied Physics at the University of Rome Sapienza. He has been research scientist at the Italian National Agency for New Technology, Energy, and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) since 1988, and Research Director since 2009. His scientific interests are focussed on climate monitoring and climate-related processes, mainly in the polar regions and in the Mediterranean. Has been PI for the lidar system operational at the Thule High Arctic Atmospheric Observatory (Greenland), as part of the Network for Detection of Atmospheric Composition Changes. He has been also PI for the scientific activities carried out at the Station of Climate observations on the island of Lampedusa, in the Mediterranean, since 2002. He has also been PI for radiation measurements at the Nepal Climate Observatory (2009-2013). In 2002 he won the "Felice Ippolito" Research Prize, that is assigned by the Italian Antarctic program. Has led the Laboratory for Observations and Analysis for Earth and Climate in the period 2010-2015. He taught at the University of Tuscia (Viterbo), at the University of Roma Tre, and at Ca' Foscari University in Venice. Has been visiting professor at University Paris Diderot. He is author of more than 100 international peer-reviewed papers (ISI).
