Division Models, Observations and Scenarios for Climate Change and Air Quality

The Division Models and Technologies for Risks reduction contributes to the competitiveness and sustainable development of our Country, carrying out research and technological activities in support to Public Administrations, enterprises and citizens. It provides tools and methods for the assessment of policies, plans and strategies to cope with risks adaptation and mitigation. Both natural and anthropogenic risks are addressed with specific focus on seismic and hydrogeological vulnerability, climate change and air quality.

Systems and models are developed for scenario analysis and assessment of anthropic impacts and the reduction of natural hazards at local and national level.

Numerical models are performed and run to describe the interactions between GHGs emissions, atmospheric pollution, climate change, energy and technological scenarios, Their impacts on the national economic system and society are assessed in order to suggest adaptation and mitigation strategies.

Anti-seismic devices, systems and technologies are developed in order to built resilience analysis and applications of geomathics techniques are devoted to the protection of land, landscape and architectural heritage.

Research and development are addressed on seismic input characterisation and seismic microzonation, with investigations for the definition and control of geomorphological and hydrogeological risk and surface erosion. Research on the preservation of water resources.
